At River Run Farms, we are very proud of our healthy and happy dogs and puppies. Given our experiences with our Labs in the past, we do not expect a new owner to have any health-related problems with our puppies. In the unlikely event that there is a health-related problem, however, we offer new buyers the following written assurance and guarantee of health. Hip Dysplasia & Health GuaranteeUpon receipt of your new puppy, the new owner must have the puppy examined by a veterinarian within seven days. If the puppy is determined to be unhealthy upon examination by the veterinarian, it shall be our option to either pay for the puppy to be returned to us (at our expense) or have the puppy put to sleep. A replacement puppy will be provided (if available), with airfare being the responsibility of the new owner, or your original payment will be promptly refunded. Failure to have the puppy examined within seven (7) days or not returning a signed copy of the certificate of health to us (in the envelope provided) within fourteen (14) days will result in a void of this guarantee.Puppies should also be given a x-ray for OFA hip dysplasia between the ages of 24 and 26 months of age. If the x-ray is not completed during this time period then this agreement becomes void. If at any time you suspect your dog of developing hip dysplasia, you should notify River Run Farms as soon as possible. We will require a copy of an official x-ray to be sent to our veterinarian for reading, and we will send it on to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals organization.In the unlikely event that the puppy is found to be mild, moderate, or severely dysplastic, the dog must be spayed/neutered or put to sleep, and a letter of verification from the attending veterinarian sent to us here at River Run Farms. Fair or borderline hip joint conformation does not apply under this guarantee, unless it becomes mild, moderate, or severe dysplasia by 26 months of age. If the dog does become dysplastic, a new puppy will be provided from a new litter that is mutually acceptable to both parties, with airfare being the responsibility of the dog's owner. No puppies shall be whelped or sired from this dog before the hip x-ray is completed at the 24 to 26 months of age interval or this guarantee becomes null and void. This agreement is only valid between River Run Farms and the original purchaser of this puppy.River Run Farms further guarantees that all breeding stock is free from congenital cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), both of which are inherited diseases of the eye and can cause blindness. We hereby guarantee your new puppy to be free of both of these eye diseases until 48 months of age, after which time these diseases do not show up. The above puppy replacement guarantee for dysplasia also applies to the eye guarantee, however, we will require a veterinary ophthalmologist certification/statement making the determination of congenital cataracts or PRA.
